The Washington Capitals renew their contract with veteran center Nic Dowd for 3 years

The Washington Capitals announced on Sunday afternoon that they had renewed their contract with center Nic Dowd for three years, valued at $3.9 million. The transaction runs from 2022-23 to 2024-25, with an average annual value of US$1.3 million. The fans are very happy to see him playing for Washington in a Washington Capitals jersey.

Dowd will enter his fifth season in Washington in the 2022-23 season. Since joining the free agency market before the 2018-19 season, he has been a reliable four-line center for the team.

The Huntsville, Alabama native is the last year of his three-year, $2.25 million renewal contract he signed with the team on April 11, 2019. During his tenure with the capital team, Dowd had 27 goals, 26 assists and 53 points on the faceoff in 185 with a 53.3% win rate. He scored his career-best 11 goals in 56 games last season, averaging 14 minutes and 22 seconds per game, which is also a career high.

When this renewal expires, Dowd will be 34 years old.
